Relay EMS is committed to supporting the development of individuals who are already actively involved with our team.
Our bursary initiative considers applications only from individuals who:
- Currently work with Relay EMS as first aiders at events, projects or other approved activities; and
- Are in their final year of study within the Emergency Medical Care (EMC) field.
Please note that this is not a public bursary or learnership programme. Applications from individuals who are not currently working with Relay EMS will not be considered.
Through this initiative, we aim to invest in individuals who have demonstrated their dedication, commitment and potential while contributing to the work of Relay EMS.
Success Stories: Yanni Geldenhuys and Beyonce Jacobs
Yanni Geldenhuys
In 2024, our first bursary was awarded to Yanni, enabling her to complete her final year of the Bachelor of Emergency Medical Care at Nelson Mandela University. Yanni’s journey with Relay EMS began years earlier when she worked in our Events Department. Her time with us provided invaluable experience, a deep understanding of the EMS industry, and a solid foundation for her studies. Yanni’s dedication and hard work paid off as she successfully completed her degree and embarked on her EMS career with Relay EMS in 2025.

Beyonce Jacobs
In 2025, we awarded Beyonce Jacobs a bursary to begin her Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care through the Faculty of Emergency and Critical Care at Netcare 911. Like Yanni, Beyonce worked in our Events Department as a first aider, demonstrating her passion and commitment to EMS. Her experiences at Relay EMS have given her a unique advantage as she embarks on her academic journey.

Bursaries are financial aid granted to students in need, those who excel academically and practically, or individuals who show a commitment and dedication to their field of study and go out of their way to demonstrate this. Unlike student loans, bursaries do not require repayment, making them a vital resource for students who might not otherwise afford higher education.
